Founded in 2011 by Heather Turney, the Global Team is a leading global organisation using soccer as a strategy to advance primary education.

Through our soccer-based model, the Global Team engages players in and out of the classroom by matching each classroom topic to each weekly soccer  skill. Focusing on respect towards others and self, Global Team players are surrounded by engaging and creative learning environments which empower them to be the change they wish to see in themselves, their community and the world.

We aim to increase quality programming by setting standards around good practices for youth development education through soccer programs – programs that provide key competencies to youth in their community including the environment, math, health and creative writing/speaking. The Global Team model is built on the premise that youth who are empowered through education are able to access resources and opportunities. We believe that sport, specially soccer, can play a unique role in connecting and linking these elements.

To ensure impact and to realize shared objectives, the Global Team has established key strategic partnerships and alliances with youth development organizations and networks, sport for development organizations and sport institutions.
